Whereas you could easily walk from Oxford Circus to London Bridge within 30 minutes and than back to Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus or Leister Square. In Paris walking from "la Bastille" to the Eiffel Tower would be a rather tiring half day walk or so.
